Phillip H. Matney, 28, of Cape Girardeau passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at Southeast Hospital.
He was born Sept. 30, 1987, in Cape Girardeau to Herman and Mildred (Mathis) Matney.
Phillip was a 2006 graduate of Hallsville High School and a truck driver for SIMX Trucking. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and doing odd jobs at Whiskey River, even though he didn't drink or smoke.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his parents; brothers, Jason Palmer and Andy Russell (fiance, Tabitha Mineer), all of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Elisabeth Matney (boyfriend, Roy Rudd) of Lilbourn, Missouri; aunts; uncles; nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; maternal grandparents; maternal step-grandfather; and cousin, Jenna Eldridge.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Billy Garner officiating.
Burial will follow at Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Phillip's family.
