CHARLESTON - Mrs. Pauline Hawkins Murphy, 91, of Charleston, died Friday Oct. 2, 1992 at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
She was born Oct. 16, 1900 in Charleston, the daughter of Edward and Mary Frances Hawkins. She was a retired teacher, having taught in schools all over the Bootheel area. She was a member of Perry Chapel AME Church.
Her husband, Marcus Alphonso Murphy, preceded her in death on June 21, 1978.
Survivors include: two nephews, Gregory Hawkins of St. Louis and Harold Kaywood Hawkins of Chicago; two nieces, Clementine Hawkins of Chicago and Mary Rowden of Charleston; and three great-nieces, Marva Jones, Karlene Jones and Tonette Lancaster, all of Washington, D.C.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 7-8 p.m. at Sparks Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with Rev. T.L. Clark and Rev. T.R. Tyus officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
