MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Pauline Barks, 86, of Grassy, Mo., passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, at the Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 12, 1924, at Chaffee, Mo., the daughter of William C. and Susan Elizabeth Richards Roberts. She married Melvin Barks Aug. 11, 1945. He preceded her in death Jan. 16, 1996.
Barks taught in the area public schools, was a seamstress at the hat factory and was a member of Point Pleasant General Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Lynn (Patricia) Barks of Grassy; one daughter Shirlene (Bob) Schafer of Cape Girardeau; one sister; Helen Varvil of St. Louis; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Cecil, Lowell and one in infancy; one sister, Hazel Yount; and one grandson, Jason Schafer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Rev. Gene Robbins officiating. Interment will follow in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
