She was born Aug. 19, 1896, in Wittenberg, the daughter of Martin and Emma Richter Grebing. On April 18, 1915, she married Herman F. Thurm, who preceded her in death Feb. 11, 1959...

WITTENBERG -- Paula Elizabeth Thurm, 96, of Wittenberg died Friday, May 14, 1993, at the American Care Center in Perryville.

She was born Aug. 19, 1896, in Wittenberg, the daughter of Martin and Emma Richter Grebing. On April 18, 1915, she married Herman F. Thurm, who preceded her in death Feb. 11, 1959.

She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. She formerly was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wittenberg and the St. Paul Ladies Aid.

Survivors include three sons, Harry H. Thurm of Willsboro, N.Y., Harvey M. Thurm of Altamonte Springs, Fla. and George G. Thurm of Altenburg; a daughter, Edna Galnore of Perryville; three sisters, Hilde Heise, Ruth Crites and Esther Aufdenberg, all of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Two daughters, two brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Friends may call from 3:30 to 9 p.m. today and from 6:30 to 11 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. The Rev. Willard Kassulke will officiate, and burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery at Wittenberg.
