Paul Douglas Unverferth, 49, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born April 11, 1959, in Perryville, Mo., son of Thomas "Pete" and Lois Jean (Rose) Unverferth.

Unverferth had worked at Buchheit Inc. more than 10 years. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Cahtolic Church and of the American Association of People with Disabilities. He was a die-hard NASCAR racing fan and enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grand-dog, George. He will be missed not only by the members of his family and relatives but by his friends that he inspired throughout his life.

Survivors include three daughters, Emily Erin Unverferth of Columbia, Mo., Laura Rose Unverferth of St. Louis, Sarah Anne Unverferth of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, Mark (Therese) Unverferth of Perryville, Richard (Donna) and Guy (Mary) Unverferth of St. Louis; four sisters, Cheryl (Johnny) Graff of Fort Meyers, Fla., Geri (Paul) Mayer of DeSoto, Mo., Jackie (Mark) Hofius of St. Louis and Lisa Unverferth (Brian Richardet) of Perryville. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. The Catholic wake will be at 7 p.m. today. The rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
