Paul C. Martin, 83, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, April 16, 2007, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born June 5, 1923, in Livingston, Tenn., son of Roscoe D. and Annis Shelton Martin.

Martin had worked at Atlas Plastics, General Electric, and after retiring was an appliance repairman.

He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He built landing ship transports in Evansville, Ind., before serving in Burma his entire tour.

Survivors include two sons, William Martin of Mattoon, Ill., Robert Martin of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Connie Gavis of Mattoon, Shelley Fuller of Charleston, Ill., Rebecca Martin of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Will J. Martin of Monroe, Tenn., Cleo Martin of California; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two foster children, Maria Weed and Dixie Fugate of Cape Girardeau; and three foster grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel.

The graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield. Janet Hopkins will officiate. Full military honors will be provided by Missouri Delta Team.
