NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Paul J. Kiefer, 88, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 1, 1923, in Oran, Mo., to Theodore and Berdina Eftink Kiefer. He and Mildred P. Felter were married Oct. 30, 1951. She preceded him in death Dec. 12, 2007.

Paul was a self-employed farmer and carpenter. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Joseph Sodality and Knights of Columbus Council 4311.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, the Rev. Tom Kiefer of Cape Girardeau, Pat (Jan) Kiefer of New Hamburg; two granddaughters, Brittany and Michaela Kiefer of New Hamburg; four sisters, Sister Jane Ann Kiefer of Cape Girardeau, Sister Helen Kiefer of St. Louis, Rita Hinkebein of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Ethel Massman of High Ridge, Mo.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Kiefer as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg or St. Mary Building Fund in Cape Girardeau.
