ZALMA -- Paul H. Hart Sr., 76, of Zalma died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter. He was born March 9, 1922, in Stoddard County, son of Rubin and Cora Harty. He and Izella Lewis were married Oct. 4, 1942. She died April 6, 1969. He later married Laverne Schrader Dec. 10, 1977...

ZALMA -- Paul H. Hart Sr., 76, of Zalma died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.

He was born March 9, 1922, in Stoddard County, son of Rubin and Cora Harty. He and Izella Lewis were married Oct. 4, 1942. She died April 6, 1969. He later married Laverne Schrader Dec. 10, 1977.

Harty was a press operator at Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau 12 years. He was a member of Zalma General Baptist Church and Zalma Masonic Lodge 545 AF&AM. Harty served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Paul Harty Jr. of Taylor Springs, Ill., Jack Harty of Perry City, Ill., Gordan Harty of St. Peters, Gary Harty of Easton, Pa.; five daughters, Eileen Lafary of Bushnell, Ill., Phyllis McGuire of Winchester, Ill., Paulette Johnston of Williams, Ariz., Mary Holdiness of Jackson, and Ramona Harty of Cape Girardeau.

Also surviving are four stepsons, Randy Schrader of Advance, Mike and Stan Schrader of Arab, Jeff Schrader of Sturdivant; a brother, Claude Harty of Flint, Mich.; a sister, Mary Brewer of Fulton; 28 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; and five great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter and a stepson.

Friends may call at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance from 5-8 p.m. Saturday. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Fox officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield Cemetery at Bloomfield.
