Ewen Paul Hagans, 88, of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Jefferson City, Mo., son of Ernst W. and Betty Haid Hagans. Ewen Paul Hagans, 88, of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 3, 1915, in Jefferson City, Mo., son of Ernst W. and Betty Haid Hagans.

Mr. Hagans was a graduate of Ashland High School, and received a degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

He operated the family farm in Ashland, Mo., until retiring in 1972, then moved to Oak Ridge. He had been at the Veterans Home since 2002. He was a member of VFW and American Legion in Ashland.

Mr. Hagans was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served in China, Burma and India, and was awarded two Bronze Stars.

Survivors include a brother, John E. Hagans and wife Kathryn of Jackson; a nephew, John C. Hagans and wife Melody of Jackson; two nieces, Betty Ann Carleton and husband David of Springfield, Mo., Martha S. Colyer and husband Brennan of Farmington, N.M.; two great-nephews; five great-nieces; and several cousins in the Ashland area.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson after 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Brennan Colyer and the Rev. Grant F.C. Gillard officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
