CHARLESTON -- Funeral service for Paul Elmer Collier of Des Arc was held Friday at Ruegg Funeral Home in Piedmont. The Revs. Ronald Hughes and Johnny Clements officiated, with burial in Beulah Cemetery at Des Arc.

Collier, 86, died Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at Lucy Lee Hospital in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Feb. 4, 1911, at Brunot, son of S.E. and Tabitha Collier. He and Maxine Pennington were married Nov. 9, 1940.
Collier lived in the Des Arc area most of his life. He was a farmer, and member of Des Arc Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, the Rev. Gerald Collier of Charleston, Roger Collier of St. Louis; a daughter, June Stratton of Auburn; a brother, Rayma Collier of Fredericktown; two sisters, Nellie Young of Imperial, Sylvia Sikes of Festus; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
