Paul W. Anderson, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 31, 1912, in Cape Girardeau, son of Robert E. and Maud B. Anderson. He and Rita J. Harbin were married June 8, 1940, in Blytheville, Ark.

Anderson retired as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, White Shrine, High Twelve Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Scottish Rite, member and past worthy patron of Order of Eastern Star, was a 32nd Degree Mason, and past master of St. Mark Masonic Lodge 93 AF&AM. He was the chaplain for Masonic funeral rites for many years.

Anderson served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patricia O'Connor of Greenville, Texas, Cathy Anderson of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel from 4 to 8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. John Owen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park, with graveside rites by the VFW.
