SIKESTON -- Patsy Ann Mitchell, 69, of Sikeston died Sunday, Nov. 15, 1998, at her home, following an extended illness.

She was born July 28, 1929, in Caruthersville, daughter of Jack A. and Ethyl Adams Johnson. She and John P. "Jack" Mitchell were married July 7, 1950, in Caruthersville.

Mitchell was a 1949 graduate of Caruthersville High School, and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

She lived in Sikeston from 1950-71, in Nashville, Tenn., from 1972-92, and then returned to Sikeston. Mitchell had been a substitute art teacher at Sikeston Junior High School, and in Nashville worked for Conte-Phillips Gourmet Cook Shop and also taught cooking classes.

Mitchell was campaign chairman for Delta Community Concert Association, member and past president of Jaycee Wives, member of Sikeston Community Choir, Sikeston Little Theater Group, was a volunteer at Missouri Delta Medical Center, member of St. Paul Episcopal Church and organized and conducted the boys choir.

She had been a member of Chapter JU of PEO, and member of a garden club in Nashville.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Cyd Lee of Webster Groves, Susie Baird of Ormond Beach, Fla.; a brother, Jackie Johnson of Caruthersville; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Nathaniel Pyron and Dr. Jim Davis officiating. Burial will be in the columbarium at St. Paul Church.
