Patricia "Patty" Irene Skelton Matlock, 68, of Pocahontas passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2021, at the Jackson Manor. (If you asked her, she was forever 29.)
She was born Nov. 28, 1952, in Gordonville to the late Evelyn Skelton Dake and raised by her grandmother, the late Pearl Skelton. She married the love of her life, Gary Matlock Sr. on April 21, 1973. She was the mother of three children, Gary Jr., April and Laura.
Patty graduated from Jackson High School in 1971. She was the best baker at Chateau Girardeau and Life Care for many years prior to her retirement.
Patty was a loving wife, mother & grandmother. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren and loved spending every moment she could with them. She loved shopping at Hallmark, Hobby lobby and any antique store she could talk her husband into stopping at. Patty enjoyed touring old historical homes, especially those of the Victorian era. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and her decorating skills and ornament collection showed it. She was a wonderful baker, loved craft-making and had the greenest of thumbs when it came to tending her plants and flowers. She loved her trips to Branson, Missouri, and Colorado with her beloved husband. Patty will be missed dearly by her family and friends, as she brought so much light and love to their lives.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, April Meyer and Laura Matlock-Hill (Dallis Hill); grandchildren, Taylor, Cambreigh and Connor Matlock, Sierra Meyer, Rowan Matlock, and James, Keona and Malik Hill; great-grandchildren, Aiyana, Aspen and Gage Jr.; sisters, Connie Adams, Donna (Russ) Whitworth and Tanya (Tim) Cooper; uncle, Charles (Carrie) Skelton; her best friend since childhood, Becky Welker; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Patty was preceded in death by her beloved son, Gary Matlock Jr.; her mother; grandmother; cousin, Brad Skelton; great-nephew, Ethan Adams, and brother-in-law, Roger Adams.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped care for Patty up until her last breath at Jackson Manor and Crown Hospice, and also those who cared for her while she was still at home, Jennifer and Donna at Guardian Angels and Karen Gregory.
