Patricia Ann Mathis, 87, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2020, at her home.
She was born Feb. 7, 1933, in Gale, Illinois, to the late Ernest Irvin and Eliza Jackson Prather. She and Frank Mathis were married Oct. 9, 1962, in Cairo, Illinois. He preceded her in death July 8, 2005.
Patricia was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening and cooking. She especially loved her dogs, most recently, Angel and Molly.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; caregiver, Julie Kelley; and canine companion, Molly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; eight brothers, William "Napper," Claude "Preacher," Paul "Stacker," Loren "Doc," Robert "Dutch," Wayne "Boodle," Danny "Jitter" and Lesley "Bus" Prather; and two sisters, Virginia "Toots" Tupper and Wanda Parmer.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.
Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with her nephew, the Rev. Paul Prather, officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
