Patrick W. "Pat" Scully, 75, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, at his home.
He was born March 17, 1939, in St. Louis, son of Vincent Higgins and Cecelia Podosky Scully. He and Diane were married June 18, 1976, and together raised four loving children, Lisa, Nick, Renee and Gina.
Pat was a 1957 graduate of Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis. A St. Louis native, he and his family moved to Jackson in 1977 for job related reasons. He worked 39 years at Business Products Center of St. Louis and 10 years for SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence Inc. (SADI) in Cape Girardeau.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and served as usher, bus driver, and former treasurer of its home and school board. For 20 years he attended weekly perpetual adoration in the chapel of Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau and was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and a 4th Degree Knight.
Pat was a kind and gentle person and will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 38 years, Diane of Jackson; four children, Lisa (Tom) Gehrin of Cary, North Carolina, Nicholas Matulewic of Portage Des Sioux, Missouri, Renee (John) Boone of Merritt Island, Florida, and Gina Scully (Campbell Rodgers) of Raleigh, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Daniel, Jessica and Kristen Gehrin, Lauren and Nathan Boone; two siblings to whom he was close, Vincent (Sharon) Scully of St. Peters, Missouri, and Ann Marie (Ken) Borgmeyer of Florissant, Missouri; many nieces, nephews; his second family, SADI; and many good and loyal friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Deacon Walter Biri will lead parish prayers at 6:30, immediately followed with the rosary by Knights of Columbus.
A Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Private burial will be at a later date.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence Inc. or Immaculate Conception Building Fund.
