TAMMS, Ill. -- Ozia Steele, 78, of Tamms died Monday, March 5, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Aug. 27, 1928, in Tamms, son of Charlie and Leora Porter Steele. He and Evelin Prager were married in November 1966.
Steele served 21 years in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He received numerous awards and certificates. He was later a bus driver for Jamp Special Education and Cairo Adult Education schools.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Daniella Ellis of Olive Branch, Miss.; a son, George Williams of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Tilmer Steele of Matteson, Ill.; two sisters, Claudetter Jordan of Tamms, Jewel Rause of University Park, Ill.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by nine brothers and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Massie Funeral Home in Mounds, Ill., with the Rev. Van Steele officiating.
