CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Owen Chester Thomas, 92, of Chaffee died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 12, 1918, son of Richard Asberry and Sylvania Randal Thomas. He and Dorothy Proctor were married June 25, 1955. She died Jan. 25, 1985...

CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Owen Chester Thomas, 92, of Chaffee died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 12, 1918, son of Richard Asberry and Sylvania Randal Thomas. He and Dorothy Proctor were married June 25, 1955. She died Jan. 25, 1985.

Thomas retired as an assembly line worker at National Vendors in St. Louis. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.

He served with the 42nd Sunset Division of the U.S. Army and was a scout during World War II.

Thomas loved watching Cardinals baseball, wrestling and westerns. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed his grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Gary Wooldridge of Simi Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Lowery; three grandsons, Dwayne (Julie) Lowery, Shawn (Nancy) Lowery, Kenith (Donna) Lowery; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Sarah, Gabe, Samantha, Christopher, Tabitha and Wesley Lowery, Makinsey and Joshua Uhrhan; and two great-great-grandchildren, Destiny and Kaylee Lowery, all of Chaffee.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Phillip, James and Bill Thomas; four sisters, Pearl Latham, Haddie Hooker, Minnie Fritzberg and Retta Hogan.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to service time today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.

The funeral will be held at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gene Hooker officiating.

Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, with full military rites to be conducted.
