JACKSON -- Owen Estes, 85, of Jackson, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Nov. 1, 1908, at Burfordville, son of Everett and Lulu McCoullough Estes. He and Ruby Mason were married Aug. 5, 1933.
Estes had lived on a farm near Jackson since 1946. He had worked at Shawl Awning Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a painter with Local 1292 in Cape Girardeau from 1953 until retiring in 1977 as a painter's union business agent. He was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church and Excelsior Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Billy Estes of Jackson; two brothers, Hugh Estes of Bend, Ore., Everett Estes Jr. of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Patti McMillin of Riverside, Calif., and Mildred Insco of San Bernardino, Calif.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Nancy Woods will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30.
