ORAN -- Otto Louis Schlitt, 94, of Oran died Saturday, May 30, 1992 at his home.
He was born Nov. 10, 1897 in New Hamburg, son of Karl and Madeline Catherine Kielhoefner Schlitt.
He was a farmer, retiring in 1958.
On Aug. 30, 1921, he married the former Mary Josephine Dohogne. She preceded him in death April 21, 1984.
He was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic church in Oran, the St. Joseph Sodality and the Knights of Columbus Council 4311 of Oran.
Surviving are three sons, Harold A. Schlitt, Oran, Robert J. Schlitt, Poplar Bluff, Carl L. Schlitt, Oran Route 1; four daughters, Mildred Burnett, Sikeston, Alma Jean Gouge, Wentzville, Mary Catherine Stoverink, O'Fallon, Georgia Neal, St. Louis; one sister, Dena Dannenmueller, Chaffee; 36 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
One son, two grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.
Friends may call today after 2 p.m. at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus Prayer Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Guardian Angel Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
