JACKSON -- Otto "Sam" Brandes, 88, of Jackson died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 24, 1908, at Uniontown, son of Ben and Katie Schumacher Brandes. He and Sophia Kurre were married April 28, 1948, in Piggott, Ark.
Brandes had farmed north of Jackson. He was a member of Altenthal Joerns American Legion Post 158 and Emanuel United Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Lillian Lueders of St. Louis, and Viola Dunwell of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
