Oscar Hopper
Funeral service for Oscar Crites Hopper of Cape Girardeau will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. The Rev. David Dissen will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
Hopper died at his home Monday, Oct. 6, 1997, on his 90th birthday.
He was born Oct. 6, 1907, in Cape Girardeau, son of Louis T. and Mary E. Tenkhoff Hopper. He and Evelyn Kipping were married Feb. 8, 1932, in St. Louis.
Hopper began working at Marquette Cement Co. May 15, 1926, and retired as an electrician at Lone Star Industries in October 1969. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a crappie fisherman and member of Marquette-Lone Star Fishing Club.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry Hopper of Kissimmee, Fla., Ronnie Hopper of Ballwin, Donald Hopper of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Clarence Hopper of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
