Funeral service for Oscar Burette "Cookie" Cook, 717 N. Sprigg, will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Revs. Mark Anderson and S.S. Borum will officiate, with burial in Lorimier Cemetery.
Cook, 93, died Monday, May 26, 1997, at Ratliff Care Center.
He was born Aug. 18, 1903, in Brownwood, son of Eugene Jefferson and Mary Fife Cook. He and Mamie E. Zimmerman were married Aug. 8, 1923.
He worked at Federal Materials Co. in Cape Girardeau from 1926 to 1970. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 513, and Lynwood Baptist Church. He was a former deacon and treasurer of Red Star Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Margaret Crites of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Oma Stone of Peoria, Ill., Dora Staats of St. Louis; a great-grandson; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, and a granddaughter.
