PERRYVILLE -- Orville F. Abernathy, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Perry Oaks Nursing Home. He was born June 10, 1920, at Menfro, son of John and Julie Clifton Abernathy. He and Maxine Colin were married July 27, 1946. Abernathy had been a glass cutter. PERRYVILLE -- Orville F. Abernathy, 79, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Perry Oaks Nursing Home.

He was born June 10, 1920, at Menfro, son of John and Julie Clifton Abernathy. He and Maxine Colin were married July 27, 1946.

Abernathy had been a glass cutter. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Perryville and its Bereans Bible Class, and member of VFW Post 4282.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joy Schloss of St. Louis; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-9 p.m. Friday, and Saturday from 6:30-8:30 a.m. The VFW wake will be at 7 p.m. Friday.

Funeral will be at Immanuel Church at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Craig Otto will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
