PUXICO, Mo. -- Oren Stephens, 87, of Puxico died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 14, 1916, at McGee, Mo. He and Thelma Stephens were married April 2, 1938, at Bloomfield, Mo. She died Dec. 3, 2002.
Stephens was employed by Missouri Department of Conservation and also farmed, retiring in 1985. He was a member of Brown General Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Keith Stephens of Jackson, Gary Stephens of St. Peters, Mo.; a daughter, Jean Placher of Puxico; a sister, Edna Cato of McGee; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, a sister, three half brothers, and three half sisters.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Brown General Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Buttry officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
