Opal L. Nenninger, 85, of 155 W. Forester died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born on April 27, 1913, at West Salem, Ill., daughter of George H. and Clara L. Marks Dawson.
She married Marvin Nenninger on March 29, 1937.
She was a graduate of the Missouri Baptist School of Nursing in St. Louis and was a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital for 40 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Anne's Sodality, Council of Catholic Women and the Daughters of Isabella. She also was a Cub Scout leader and a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the West Side Senior Citizens Club.
Survivors include her husband; five sons, John Nenninger of Lincoln, Neb., Jerry Nenninger of Salem, Ore., Joe Nenninger of Jackson, Tim Nenninger of St. Louis and Richard Nenninger of Burfordville; two daughters, Mary Sue Emmons of Cape Girardeau and Judi Lawrence of Perryville; two brothers, Daniel and Hal Dawson, both of De Soto; two sisters, Thelma Loveless of Tuscon, Ariz., and Nelda Polette of De Soto; 18 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel, with a Daughters of Isabella service at 6:30, followed by parish prayers at 7 and the Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
