Opal N. Collins, 80, of Swansea, Ill., died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
She was born March 18, 1928, in St. Louis, daughter of Earl and Viola Brees Johnson. She and James E. Collins were married July 17, 1948. He died Jan. 6, 2008.
Collins was a retired nurses aide and a member of First Baptist Church. She was raised at Hahn, Mo.
Survivors include two daughters, Helen DeSpain of Baldwin, Ill., Jeri McManus of Clarksville, Tenn.; two sons, Dave Collins of Belleville, Kelly Collins of Lenzburg, Ill.; a brother, Mitchell Johnson of Park Hills, Mo.; two sisters, Hazel Davis of Cheyenne, Wyo., Juanita Wyant of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home in Red Bud, Ill., and from noon to service time Saturday at First Baptist Church in Red Bud.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Dennis Morgan officiating. Burial will be in Red Bud City Cemetery.
