Opal Brashears
MOREHOUSE, Mo. -- Opal Bernice Brashears, 79, of Morehouse died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Sept. 5, 1929, in Lamar, Ark., daughter of Bradley and Anna Grace Carter. She and Billy Lee Brashears were married Dec. 26, 1954. He died June 30, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Mike and Tim Brashears of Morehouse; a daughter, Sheila Burton of Chaffee, Mo.; four brothers, Ernest Carter of Telephone, Texas, Delmar Carter of Vanduser, Mo., Doyle Carter of Washington State, Wayne Carter of Las Vegas; two sisters, Eunice Hudnell of Blackstone, Va., Wanda Higdon of Morehouse; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Mo.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmy Vent officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at Morley, Mo.
