GLENALLEN, Mo. -- Omer Jesse Shell Jr., 75, of Glenallen passed away Monday, June 5, 2006, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 23, 1930, in St. Louis, son of Omer Jesse and Margaret Rush Shell Sr.
Mr. Shell was a 20-year veteran, serving his country as a first sergeant with the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1968. He was a member of VFW Post 5900.
He was a retired teamster with Swift and Co., and in later years he enjoyed a small engine repair business.
Survivors include three daughters, Sandy Oxford of Broken Arrow, Okla., Pat Lusk of Rolla, Mo., Gerri Shell of LaCrosse, Wis.; a brother, Jerry Shell of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a girlfriend, Treva Loughary of Glenallen; and a best friend, Richard Crader of Marble Hill, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fred Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill, with full military honors by Missouri Honors Team.
