Omar Farrow

Omar Ray Farrow, 91, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Dec. 23, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, son of Edward and Valodea Fern Ward Farrow. He and Maxine Littleton were married Aug. 25, 1941, in Parma, Mo. She passed away Dec. 19, 2007.

Omar was a maintenance worker at Southeast Missouri State University from 1962 until retiring in 1984. He was also a farmer and owned and operated a sawmill. Omar was a member of Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672 and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 60 in Cape Girardeau, and was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson 53 years.

Loving survivors include his children, Eddie (Linda) Farrow of Cape Girardeau, Tommy Farrow of Jackson, Mike (Saundra) Farrow of Troy, Mo., Myra Morris, Alan (Faye) Farrow and Bryan (Deborah) Farrow of Jackson; a brother, Fred Farrow of Millersville; a sister, Millie Jennings of Inverness, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, a daughter-in-law and a grandson.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. today, followed by an American Legion service.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Debbie Arvelo officiating. Interment will be in McLain Chapel Cemetery near Oriole, with military honors provided.

Memorials may be made to the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau or Wesley United Methodist Church.
