PUXICO -- Olive Townsend, 87, of Puxico died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital in Dexter.
She was born Oct. 30, 1910, at Trask, daughter of Oliver A. and Sarah E. Crawford Townsend.
Townsend was a graduate of Bloomfield High School, and 1945 graduate of Missouri Baptist School of Nursing.
She worked at Butler County Health Center many years, and had been a nurse at Clarkton and Bernie schools. She had been a volunteer with the United Methodist Church Youth Camps in the summer months.
Townsend lived in the Puxico area most of her life, with the exception of 20 years in St. Louis. She was a member of Puxico United Methodist Church and was a certified lay speaker with the denomination. She was also a member of Thursday Culture Club.
Survivors include three sisters, Bessie Johnson of Lively, Va., Eunice Lewis of Woodward, Okla., and Susan Harmon of Puxico.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico after 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Glen Lashley and Amos Dees officiating. Burial will be in Fagan Cemetery.
