BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- Olen Vanover, 56, of Bloomfield died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at the home of a daughter.
He was born Nov. 3, 1944, in Sikeston, Mo., son of R.V. and Trecie Latham Vanover.
Vanover was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army 23 years, serving tours of duty in Germany and Vietnam. He raised cattle on his farm near Bloomfield. He was a member of Miner Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Andy Vanover of Sikeston; a daughter, Carissa Steward of Kennett, Mo.; two brothers, Vernon Vanover of Sikeston, Theral Vanover of Puxico, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Mitchell Jackson and Michael Herr officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by a detail from Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
