PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Oleen A. Saffell, 84, of Perryville peacefully departed Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 4, 1931 in Farrar, Missouri, daughter of Martin and Mary Verseman Steffens-Hemmann. She and Edward A. Saffell were married Aug. 5, 1950. He preceded her in death March 29, 2002.
Oleen had worked at Perry County Memorial Hospital as a nurse's aid in the new-born nursery. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown, LWML, Extension Club and a founding member of the Memory Makers Quilt Club.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda (William) Holt of Farrar; two grandchildren, Laura (Shane) Brown and Daniel (Georgie) Holt; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Brown and Wyatt Holt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Edgar and Vernold Steffens and Alvert Hemman; and two sisters, Alida Roth and Hilda Brueckner Slesak.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
She then will be taken to Zion Lutheran Church in Longtown for the funeral service at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to LWML or Lutherans for Life.
