CHARLESTON -- Ola Stanfill of Charleston died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was 78. She was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Obion, Tenn., daughter of Sam and Aurora Kendall Tanner. She married Stan Stanfill Aug. 11, 1956. He died May 26, 1985...

CHARLESTON -- Ola Stanfill of Charleston died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was 78.

She was born Sept. 29, 1919, in Obion, Tenn., daughter of Sam and Aurora Kendall Tanner. She married Stan Stanfill Aug. 11, 1956. He died May 26, 1985.

She had lived in Mississippi County most of her life, operating a beauty shop in Charleston.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Charleston and a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary 4294 and the Eastern Star.

She is survived by two sons, David Gene Oliver of Charleston and Donald Oliver of Richmond, Va.; three stepsons, Dewayne Stanfill of Jacksonville, Ark., Bill Stanfill of San Antonio, Texas, and Dale Stanfill of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Edith Bailey of East Prairie and Juanita Halter of Charleston; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Shelby Chapel, with Brother Gerald Collier officiating.

Burial will be at the I.O.O.F. cemetery near Charleston.
