CHAFFEE -- Ogie Verlin Hefner, 78, of Delta died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born Aug. 25, 1919, at Bell City, son of Urnie and Grace McIntosh Hefner. He worked as a plater at Hager Hinge in St. Louis. He attended First Baptist Church at Delta and East Prairie. CHAFFEE -- Ogie Verlin Hefner, 78, of Delta died Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Aug. 25, 1919, at Bell City, son of Urnie and Grace McIntosh Hefner.

He worked as a plater at Hager Hinge in St. Louis. He attended First Baptist Church at Delta and East Prairie. He was a past member of the Chaffee VFW Club.

He married Mable Luceile Bailey on May 14, 1947. She died Sept. 7, 1993.

He is survived by a son, Ted Hefner of St. Louis; daughters, Sheila Howard and Natalie Tharp, both of East Prairie; a sister, Ruth Majka of Delta; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and a grandchild.

Service will be held at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee on Monday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Glen Golden officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Cemetery at Advance.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
