GREENBRIAR -- O'Dell O. Corbin, 78, of Coal City died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at his home. He was born June 4, 1919, in Greenbriar, son of Grover C. and Ruth Blacklidge Corbin. He and Fredia Welker were married April 6, 1940. Corbin was raised at Greenbriar. He and his wife moved to Coal City in 1955 and had farmed since that time. He was a charter member of Coal City Area Club, served as a Democratic township committeeman, and as an ASCS board member...

GREENBRIAR -- O'Dell O. Corbin, 78, of Coal City died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at his home.

He was born June 4, 1919, in Greenbriar, son of Grover C. and Ruth Blacklidge Corbin. He and Fredia Welker were married April 6, 1940.

Corbin was raised at Greenbriar. He and his wife moved to Coal City in 1955 and had farmed since that time. He was a charter member of Coal City Area Club, served as a Democratic township committeeman, and as an ASCS board member.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Corbin of Coal City, Mitchell Corbin of North Carolina; a daughter, Ruth Ann Swan of Georgia; three brothers, Grover, Jimmy and Donald Corbin of Missouri; three sisters, Wanda Carlew, Evelyn Fischer and Wyvonne Croy, all of Missouri; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, and a grandson.

Funeral service was held Jan. 28 at Reeves Funeral Home in Coal City, with the Rev. Carol Edman officiating. Burial was in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery.
