NOVELLA MANTEL

CHAFFEE -- Novella Belle Mantel, 91, of Chaffee died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 12, 1909, in Puxico, daughter of Ila and Laura Waller McClure. She and Carl W. Mantel were married Oct. 18, 1930. He died Jan. 2, 1968.

Mantel was a member of First Baptist Church, and former member of Order of Eastern Star, and Ladies Auxiliary to Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.

Survivors include a son, Mike Mantel of Chaffee; three daughters, Marietta Gilmer, Barbara Arnold and Bonnie Rister, all of Chaffee; a sister, Etta Duncan of Edwardsville, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, five brothers, and a stepson.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. R.L. Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
