Novella Howell, daughter of the late David Guy and Ollie Slinkard, was born May 2, 1924, in Allenville and stepped into the presence of her Lord and Savior Thursday, Jan. 26, 2022, at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau at the age of 97 years.
Novella enjoyed playing rummy with her best friend, Margaret Cahill; attending and singing at church, with Pastor Dan Chaney giving her a ride every Sunday; playing bingo; and enjoying family gatherings at the old Borneman homestead.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (William) O'Connor of Saint Charles, Missouri; sister, Jane Klaus of Jackson; nine grandchildren, Cindy (AJ) Kelley, Tim (Teresa) Borneman, Danny Borneman, Denny (Michaela) Borneman, Brian (Andella) O'Connor, Laura (Matt) Latall, DeeAnna Sikes, Justin (Kristy) Borneman and Stacy Borneman; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Apart from her parents, Novella was preceded in death by two husbands, William M. Borneman and Harvey Howell; two sons, William M. Borneman Jr. and Guy E. Borneman; three sisters and five brothers.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee, Missouri. Funeral service will then be at noon Saturday at the funeral home, Pastor Dan Chaney officiating. Interment will follow at the McGuire Cemetery in Burfordville.
