Norris L. Boren, 88, of New Wells, Mo., passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005, at his home.
He was born December 13, 1916, east of New Wells, son of Henry F. and Emma Hutteger Boren. He and Elsie Stueve were married Nov. 22, 1942.
Norris was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells and was also a lifetime member of the church.
Norris and Elsie owned and operated New Wells Mercantile Store for 37 years, retiring in 1982. Norris was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Loving survivors include Elsie, his wife of 62 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Edward Meinz of Farmington, Mo., Mary K. and Larry Rhodes of New Wells; a sister, Helen Kemp of Fredericktown; and a sister-in-law, Gusta Boren of Cape Girardeau.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Jennifer Skinner and husband, Shannon; Jeff Meinz and wife, Amy; Amy Chiles and husband, Jim; Craig Rhodes and wife, Nicole; and Brian Rhodes; six great-grandchildren, Alicen and Zachary Skinner, Gavin, Jenna and Julia Meinz, Talon Chiles; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Boren, and a sister, Marie Scholl.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. Walter Patzwitz officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
