Norman R. Preusser, 83, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 3, 1927, son of Otto and Hattie Hemmann Preusser. He and Ruby Bodenschatz were married June 6, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown.
Norman was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Shawneetown, where he was baptized and confirmed. He was co-owner and operator of Shawnee Farms Dairy at Shawneetown and was employed at Procter & Gamble 10 years.
Norman served on the original Lutheran Nursing Home Board in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Missouri Guernsey Breeders Association where he formerly served as a chairman and board member. He served on the building and planning board for Saxony Lutheran High School.
He served with the U.S. Army in Korea from 1952 to 1953. He was a member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years; a son, Anthony "Tony" (Iris) Preusser of Friedheim; two daughters, Connie (Darrell) Ulrich of Jackson, Peggy (Doug) Goodson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a brother, Gustav (Virgie) Preusser of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Dana (Jon) Spindler, Kara (Ryan) Pieraccini, Matthew (Sarah) Preusser, Sarah and Luke Goodson; three great-grandchildren, Michael J. Leeber, Eva Pieraccini and Maddie Jo Preusser.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar and Nelson Preusser; and a sister, Leona Rich.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. An American Legion service will be held at 7. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery, with graveside military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Saxony Lutheran High School or Missouri Veterans Home.
