Norman H. "Pete" Kinder, 94, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Dec. 20, 1907, at Gordonville, Mo., son of Benjamin H. and Effie Eakins Kinder. He and Maple F. Wadley were married July 17, 1937, at Benton, Mo. She died July 12, 2001...

Norman H. "Pete" Kinder, 94, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 20, 1907, at Gordonville, Mo., son of Benjamin H. and Effie Eakins Kinder.

He and Maple F. Wadley were married July 17, 1937, at Benton, Mo. She died July 12, 2001.

Kinder moved to St. Louis in 1941. He was a civilian contract engineer with the Department of the Army for 33 years. He received two outstanding and superior performance awards before retiring in 1974.

He was also a member of the Freedom Lodge 636 AF&AM in Mehlville, Mo., and the Grand Order of the Sword of Bunker Hill-Harhem Order 73 in St. Louis. He also served in the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 112.

Survivors include a son, Kelly K. Kinder of St. Louis; a daughter, Shirley Prade of St. Louis; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, a brother and a sister.

Friends may call today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. A Masonic service will be at 6:30 p.m. at the chapel.

Funeral will be at noon Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Ted Renollet officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
