CHAFFEE -- Norman Henry Hampton, 70, of Chaffee, died Thursday, May 5, 1994, at his home.
He was born April 14, 1924, in Chaffee, son of Jason Clarence and Maggie Powless Hampton. He and Kathleen F. Bolton were married Feb. 25, 1947.
Hampton retired Feb. 1, 1981, as a brakeman with Burlington Northern Railway Co. He was a member of First Baptist Church, member and former commander of Chaffee VFW Post 3127, past leader of Order of the Arrow with Boy Scouts, and former Chaffee city councilman. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Andrew Hampton of Omaha, Neb., Chris Hampton of Chaffee; a daughter, Linda Phillips of Oran; a stepsister, Glenda Bullinger of Chaffee; seven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, stepmother and a stepbrother.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Union Park Cemetery.
