WITTENBERG, Mo. -- Norman M. Haertling, 74, of Wittenberg died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 3, 1927, at Wittenberg, son of Edgar A. and Hertha G. Ruehling Haertling. He and Verna May Fuehler were married May 27, 1950.
Haertling was a farmer and carpenter. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg, Mo., Trinity Choral Society, and Altenburg Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Brenda Schoen of Jackson, Mo., Linda Schoen of Oak Ridge, Mo., Sharon Rosenberg of St. Louis; two sons, Ronald Haertling of Susanville, Calif., Robert Haertling of Altenburg; two brothers, Leonard Haertling of Nashville, Ill., Edgar Haertling Jr. of Steeleville, Ill.; three sisters, Vernell Steiner of Jackson, Elaine Hadler of Bridgeton, Mo., Gladys Prevallet of Laurens, S.C.; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg from 5-9 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 6:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. The Rev. Ronald Paseur will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
