Norma Windeknecht, 70, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Southeast Hospital.

She was born Sept. 17, 1941, in Cape Girardeau, to Vernon and Ruth Jones Swader. She and Larry Calvin Windeknecht were married Sept. 25, 1963, in Chicago.

Norma worked for Superior Electric, the shoe factory and Victorian Inn as a housekeeper.

She was a big animal lover and played bingo avidly. Her grandkids were a big part of her life.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Vicki (Clay) Phelps of Advance, Mo., Linda Darlene Crader (Dennis Middleton) of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Jon (Candice) Windeknecht of Cape Girardeau, David Windeknecht of Illinois, Gene Windeknecht of St. Louis; three brothers, Larry (Ernestine) Swader, Vernon (Doris) Swader, Samuel Rhodes, all of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Rose Mary Clover of Fruitland; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Samuel Wesley Rhodes; and a brother, Billy Wayne Swader.

Friends may call 11 a.m. to service time Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bill Kitchen officiating. Burial will be in McLain Chapel Cemetery in Oriole.
