Norma Jean Wessell, 92, of Jackson died Sunday, June 7, 2020, at her home.

She was born Dec. 24, 1927, in Cape Girardeau to William Gale and Ruth Francis Slinkard Stroder. She and George Martin Wessell were married Aug. 5, 1950, in Gordonville. He preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1995.

She liked to bowl and take walks. She loved to travel with her daughter and grandson, Christopher.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville.

Survivors include her daughter, Paula Sue (Jim) Hope of Jackson; daughter-in-law, Maureen (Jeff) Tygett of Jackson; brother, William Gale Stroder Jr. of Mineral Point, Missouri; grandchildren, Bryan (Stephanie) Wessell, Shelly (Jason) Weber, Craig (Amber) Hope, Christopher Hope, Kevin (Alice) Hope and Cassandra (Shiloh) Wagers; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Daniel Ray Wessell; brother, Henry E. Stroder; and sister, Joanna Stroder.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Zion Lutheran Church in Gordonville.

Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Wayne Schwiesow officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
