Norma R. Dawes, 92, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born April 15, 1924, to William Harvey and Ethel Cox Dawes in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Norma worked as a clerk at Ferrenburg Grocery in Morley, Missouri, and later as a housekeeper for Drury Hotels.
She was a longtime attendee of the Hoover Center for Seniors at Southeast Missouri State University. She enjoyed reading, quilting and working puzzles. Her love for journaling and photography made her the family historian.
Norma was a member of the Morley Baptist Church in Morley.
Survivors include her son, William "Bill" Adams, and daughter-in-law, Kay Adams, of Cape Girardeau. There are three granddaughters, Jennifer (Jay) Cross of Shoreline, Washington, Amy Adams (Alicia Prince) of Jackson and Sarah (Danny) Walter of Edmond, Washington. Also surviving is a half-sister, Jerri Ann Rice of Peoria, Illinois.
Her parents; a brother, Sonny Dawes; and a sister, Marian Alice Dawes, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Dr. Shawn Wasson of Bethany Baptist Church officiating.
Burial will be in New Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
