SIKESTON -- Niles Seawood Sr., 81, of Sikeston died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. He was born Oct. 30, 1915, in Birdsong, Ark., son of Henry and Elvira Thomas Seawood. SIKESTON -- Niles Seawood Sr., 81, of Sikeston died Sunday, Nov. 10, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 30, 1915, in Birdsong, Ark., son of Henry and Elvira Thomas Seawood.

Seawood was a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church and served on the board of deacons. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; three sons, the Rev. Niles Seawood Jr. of Kansas City, Kan., Ronnie Seawood of Portland, Ore., the Rev. Dwight Seawood of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Carrie Cahill of Kansas City, Kan., Debra Anderson of Denver; three stepdaughters, Valerie Hill, Margaret Acree and Betty Butler, all of Chicago; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at St. John Church from 6-7 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Flem E. Bronner Sr. officiating. Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
