Harry Eugene "Nick" Carter, 70, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, May 24, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. He was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Anna, Ill., the son of Dorothy Sisk Carter of Cape Girardeau and the late Nick Carter. He married Virginia Lucille Prewitt on April 10, 1948, in Paragould, Ark. She died Oct. 24, 1987...

Harry Eugene "Nick" Carter, 70, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, May 24, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Anna, Ill., the son of Dorothy Sisk Carter of Cape Girardeau and the late Nick Carter. He married Virginia Lucille Prewitt on April 10, 1948, in Paragould, Ark. She died Oct. 24, 1987.

Carter lived in Cape Girardeau for a number of years after his marriage. He later moved to San Diego, Fredericksburg, Va., and Albuquerque, N.M. He worked as a car salesman in Cape Girardeau for Rueseler Chevrolet and then Harris Dodge-Chrysler. He also owned and operated Carter Cab Co. in Cape Girardeau.

Carter was a member of the Elks Lodge and American Legion Post 63 and had served in the Merchant Marines from 1943-1945.

Survivors include his mother; a son, Nick Carter of Las Vegas; a daughter, Shannon Nealy of Albuquerque; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

There will be no visitation or funeral service.
