Newland Vickery, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born April 6, 1928, in Ironton, Mo., to Theodore and Ollie Huff Vickery. He married Dorothy Comfort on Sept. 23, 1948. She preceded him in death Sept. 15, 2007.

Vickery was a licensed audiologist. He was the retired former owner of Universal Hearing Aid in Farmington, Mo. At one time, he also was manager of Perryville Loan Co.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors include four daughters, Tammy Boyer of Desloge, Mo., Judy Vickery and Bridget Rhodes of Cape Girardeau and Mary Vickery of Scott City; three sons, Tim Vickery of Cape Girardeau and Joel and Nick Vickery of St. Louis; a sister, Marge Cashman of Jasper, Texas; a brother, Jack Vickery of Bismarck, Mo.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a son, Dicky Vickery; and a sister.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 9 at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Crain Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Home Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
