COBDEN, Ill. -- Nellie M. Shadowens, 71, of Cobden died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale. She was born April 23, 1926, in Charleston, Mo., daughter of Vernon and Elsie Darnell Golightly. She and Charles E. Shadowens were married Nov. 1, 1947, in Cobden. He died June 6, 1984...

COBDEN, Ill. -- Nellie M. Shadowens, 71, of Cobden died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

She was born April 23, 1926, in Charleston, Mo., daughter of Vernon and Elsie Darnell Golightly. She and Charles E. Shadowens were married Nov. 1, 1947, in Cobden. He died June 6, 1984.

Shadowens was a member of First Baptist Church in Cobden, and a senior citizens group.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Hunt of Anna; a brother, William Golightly of Cahokia; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden after 6 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.
