Nellie J. Moss, 81, of Jackson, formerly of Cairo, Illinois, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. Nellie J. Moss, 81, of Jackson, formerly of Cairo, Illinois, died Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Cairo to Fred Larue and Nellie Sullivan. Nellie married Allen Eugene Moss Sr. on June 13, 1951. He preceded her in death Oct. 8, 2015.

Nellie and Allen owned and operated Al’s Boat and Trailer and the Farmers Market in Cairo.

She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Cairo and First Baptist Church of Jackson. Nellie lived her life for the Lord.

Nellie is survived by a son, Allen E. Moss Jr.; a granddaughter, Courtney Moss; two grandsons, Allen E. “Trey” Moss III and Thomas Sullivan Moss, all of Jackson; a niece, Bobbie Kay (Wayne) Hale of Foley, Alabama; two sisters, Lynn (Phillip) Parker of Des Moines, Iowa, and Margaret Knight of Boynton Beach, Florida; a brother, Teddy (Dee) Sullivan of Danville, Illinois; a lifelong friend, Sandra Williams of Anna, Illinois; and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three brothers, Lacey, Billy and Fred Sullivan Jr.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service Monday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Phillip Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge, Illinois.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Missouri Veterans Home and will be accepted at the funeral home.​
